Malawi Muslim Youth Against Times Media Group's Article
By: Our Reporter
Malawi Muslim Youth have expressed anger over an article by Times Media Group that is implicating Malawi Muslims in the deadly attack by Al-Shabab Rebel Group at a luxury hotel in Kenya.
The artice which has appeared in Malawi News Titled "MW Implicated In Kenya Terror" is claiming that Yao Muslims from Southern Malawi are among the terrorists.
The article has quoted SABC Video Clip which has gone viral on social media with a voice over of a purported analyst.
Reacting to the story, Malawi Muslim Youth have described the story as baseless arguing that the points in the story are lacking substantiated facts.
"Times Media Group as a media giant can't write such a big and sensitive story just from an opinion of the so called analyst."
"The story has tarnished the image of the country and Malawi Muslims in particular. This kind of reporting is unwelcome and must be stopped," Hamza Salimu said.
All Muslim Youth that Islamic Information Kit interviewed have downplayed the validity of the story and requested Times Media Group to apologise to the Malawi Muslim community.
So far, in a statement, Malawi Government has criticised Times Media Group for publishing such a sensitivity without establishing plausible facts.
