SABC Apologises to Malawians

South African Broadcasting Corperation (SABC) has apologised to Malawians for implicating Malawians, particularly the Yao Muslims from southern part of the country in Kenya attacks.
The independent news analyst of the broadcast house allerged that Malawians were among the terrorists who terrorised and killed people at a Luxury Hotel in Kenya.
The remarks angered Malawians who asked SABC to clarify it's baseless allegations that can tarnish Malawi's image.
This angered Malawi Non-Government Organisations and Government who penned SABC to clarify the claims.
In a letter addressed to Malawi Civil Society Led Black Economic Empowerment Movement (MaBLEM) Taskforce and copied to Malawi Minstry of Information, South African High Commissioner in Malawi and United Nations Malawi Representative , SABC has said it has regretted to broadcast the false information on one of it's airwaves.
"The South African Broadcasting Corperation (SABC) regrets the unfortunate statements by an analyst on one of it's news sources, the SABC News Channelz during the coverage of the Kenya attacks on 15th January, 2019," Reads part of the letter.
SABC says that the claim that Al-Shabab terrorists who attacked the hotel recruits Yao Muslims in Malawi are unsubstatiated and the media house is trying every possible way to correct the mistake.
In a letter, SABC says that the broadcast media house abides to journalism ethics and that the analyst involved in the issue Mr Izak Khomo is an independent contractor not an employee of SABC.
SABC has further stressed that it broadcasts its news impartially just to keep on strengthening the relationship of South Africa and all countries on the continent.
