Zanzibar University Muslim Graduates Association (ZUMGA) has organised a panel  discussion on 22nd December, 2018 from 08:30 am to 12:30 pm at Iqra Propagation Centre in Blantyre.

ZUMGA's Blantyre Chapter Treasurer Juma Paison told Islamic Information Kit that the panel discussion has been organised aimed at lobbying Malawi Muslim to be contributing towards the socio-economic development of the country.

The panelists are Chancellor College Associate Professor Mustafa Hussein, Principal Legal and Prosecutions Officer of  Anti-Corruption Bureau Imran Saidi, Sheikh Ahmed Chiyenda from Islamic Information Bureau and  Maulana Suhail from Blantyre Masjid.

Paison said that the panel discussion will focus on the future of Muslims in Malawi after 54 years after independence in both social and economic aspects.

"It is an undisputed historical fact that the first religion to adorn the lands of Malawi is Islam. However, our contribution towards the social and economic development of this country has failed to reflect our important position in this country."

"It appears, to all Muslims who reflect, that we have struggled and continue to do so in many aspects such as Leadership, brotherhood and economic independence, just to mention a few." Paison said.

The treasurer has then queried Malawi Muslim on wha they have contributed to Malawi's social-economic development and urged them specifically Blantyre based and surrounding areas to patronise the panel discussion.

"Now, 50 years after independence, what is the future of Muslims in terms of contributions to the society?"

"We urge Muslims around Blantyre and sorrounding areas to patronise this event as their ideas and contributions will be the solutions to the problems and challenges Muslims are facing in this country." He said.

The theme of the panel discussion is "Muslim contribution to socio-economic development of Malawi."
