Islam shining in the norther malawi

11 mosques constructed in 2018 alone in Karonga District

2018 has been a year of growth for islam in the norther region of Malawi.The region has seen a number of local and international organisations and well wishers floaking and working hand in hand to develop the region.

The region has had a background of being neglected by both mother bodies and local business and charitable organisations.Now that seems to be the story of the past as Muslim association of malawi,Southern Africa Dawa Network(SADN)(south africa based),nakishaband(south africa based) ,zambian muslim community  and Tanzanian well wishers have all come together for this noble cause.

IN karonga alone this year,2018,eleven modern mosques have been constructed.A number of mosques have also been constructed in Rumphi,Nkatabay,Mzuzu, Mzimba and Nkhatabay districts.SADN, a south african based islamic organisation represented by sheikh Mussa Saidi Mzumala,seem to have contributed and built a larger number of mosques in this region besides doing the same in central and southern region of the country.

Set out to know what developments have been accomplished in this year,we were so happy that as a community,we are improving on our religious infrastructure.Although we noted that the education sector,the secular part has not been considered in the year as not even a single secondary school or islamic primary school has been built out of the 11 mosques in karonga.
As a community we cannot and we will not succeed if we do not prioritize the development of educational facilities.It is our hope inshaAllah that the coming 2019 more and more organizations will consider investing in the secular education in our Muslim community.

We hope to get more informative data from other districts,on the developments carried out and underway.We really hope this will help us as a community look back at what we set and promised to do and reflect at the direction we are headed.The last MAM organized ijtma conducted at Bibi khadijah orphanage in Lilongwe promised us a lot in the education and health sectors.It is our hope that we keep this ummah informed and participate in various roles and responsibilities to build our deen.Leave a comment and let us all know which projects have been accomplished in your districts.

"Mesho" whose his real name is Andson Alfred released a song titled "Mizikiti Ichoke" attacking Malawi Muslims. In a statement issued by MPs Spokesperson James Kadadzela , the singer is under investigation for singing a song which is likely to spark violence among religious groups in th country. MPs has further warned Malawians to desist from acts that are likely to harm human rights of others. The song did not go well with Malawi Muslims. The Muslim community through their  body Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) reported the issue to Policw that led to "Mesho's" arrest few days ago in Mulanje district.

Muslim Poet Set To Release Video Poems

By: Sheminah Nkhoma A Blantyre based Muslim poet is set to release two video poems this year which are expected to touch the hearts of many people in the country. During the shooting of poems. Speaking in an interview,  the poet Yusuf Bamusi said that he is happy that the long awaited dream of producing his video poems will soon come true since he started the journey of composing poems. “I have been waiting for these two videos to come out and now I thank Allah that what I have been asking for is now at the last stage and that any time it will released the first poem which is titled “Kundende” is enlightening about the hardships which the prisoners are facing in different prisons in the country and the second poem is titled “UMASIYE” is explaining about the hardships which the orphans are facing when they don’t have anyone to look after them”, said Bamusi. Muslim Students Vow to Sell Malawi in Saudi Arabia

Malawian students studying at Gassim University in Saudi Arabia vowed to sell the country during People's Heritage Festival slated on Tuesday ,29th January, 2019. Speaking in an interview with Islamic  Information Kit,One of the Malawian students, Abdul Karim Shuaib said that they will let Arabs know the scope of Malawi during the event. Shuaib who is a year one student studying Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences at the University said that the festival will help them to elaborate what Malawi is. "During the day, we will cook Malawian food , explain the history of Malawi, explain the economic stand of Malawi and where it is found on earth." "We have best places in Malawi.
