(BM): Who is Yusuf Abubaker?

(YA) Yusuf Abubaker (born 21 January 1992) popularly known as THE GAME CHANGER, is a Malawian actor and poet who has starred in over four prominent and outstanding Malawian drama groups, and one of the stars of the film Danger zone directed by Ignatious Kaphinde Sc and the poem Mkazi wanga waku Jannah (My paradise wife).

I was born in Mangochi southern region of Malawi adopted the name from my father, Abubaker Yusuf crowned as Chief mpoya, hailed from Ntcheu town and my mother is Halimah Sambo from Traditonal Authority  Mponda Mangochi. I am the second and only a boy in a family of five children.

(BM): People claim that most Muslim artists snub education. What is your education background?

(YA) I received my primary education at Thumu Primary School in Mangochi and later attended Kaliyeka community day secondary school, in Lilongwe. In 2018 I graduated from Exploits University where I got a Diploma in Management Studies.

(BM): How mature and proficiency is Yusuf Abubaker?

(YA): Yusuf, is a mature, positive and hardworking individual, who always strives to achieve the highest standard possible, at any given task.

I  posses  excellent communication skills, and I am  able  to relate to a wide range of people.

(BM): When did you ventured in this industry?

(YA): My career kicked off when I started at Kaliyeka 1 madrasa (Islamic school) in 2006m I  began my acting career as a child at the age of 14.

I was inspired to take a chance with acting when I attended one of the religious functions where I was taking part in acting.

(BM) : How far has your  career reached?

(YA): Yusuf has since then appeared and participated in numerous drama groups and organisations in Malawi starring as the leading actor. Among others, I have worked with Heroes Arts To and further I joined Wachetemara Arts Theatre and later, I joined Kaliyeka Drama Group.

In 2013 I was treasure of Lilongwe Muslim students association and now I am a Vice Chairman of Lilongwe Islamic Arts Laboratory.

I see myself reaching far in this industry. In few years coming if God allows I see myself performing in other African countries and overseas.

For a year I was in the Republic of Madagascar working with a charity organization in Africa called  Resalei nur.
